Hey there people! Would like to get some introductions out here so I will go first.
I have used Softimage for quite a few years, well, at least Softimage 3D. I was teaching it at a college out in Minnesota for two years. really enjoyed it. Got out of the industry for a while and when I went back in here was Softimage XSI. IT has been like starting over again. It's soo different. One thing I have noticed about XSI is it is really difficult to find good learning resouces that are available without having to make a major purchase. Anyone else find the same?
I have my own small business that is just now starting to take off. I'm doing small interactive projects right now, but I am hoping to get into some more major projects in the future. I want to produce some short animations just for the fun of it. You know, Pixar like.
What projects have you been working on? Have any major stuggles? What are they? I'm looking for some good materials and texturing tutorials or advice that can get me from where I am at the beginning to where I want to be, obviously advanced.

Re: Introductions please......
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 12:24 PMI more of a lurker here than anything because I'm not actually an XSI user. I have tried XSI EXP... My actual app of choice is Newtek's Lightwave. I joined this tribe to see what techniques people use, and maybe adapt some of those techniques to my workflow.
My primary goal in 3D is to eventually work on some of my own shorts, mostly kid type stuff. -

Re: Introductions please......
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 2:05 PMI think that's great! Good luck on the animated shorts thing. I'm sure you can contribute to the group simply by talking about technique and style. If nothing else we can all give and take something to think about.
By the way. I love your Icon character. He looks great. Do you have him animated? Would be cool to see. -

Re: Introductions please......
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 3:58 PMThanks alot :). Actually, he's a W.I.P. right now. He's only my 2nd real character attempt. I'm still relatively new to this organic modeling stuff. As he is there, I have about 4-6 hrs into him. Really simple mesh actually. I did my first pseudo walk cycle about 2 weeks ago using someone elses character... I may try to do some animation with him once he's done.
